In 1980 Bruce Thiele the Promotions Manager for Orlando Wines established a Red Wine Club at the Rowland Flat Winery. He was known as the ultimate host, a passionate and knowledgeable wine lover and he possessed an enthusiasm that inspired people. Bruce really became the public face of Orlando. In 1994 he was inducted as a Baron of the Barossa and went on to become the Grand Master. Sadly Bruce passed away in October of 2007.
His memory however continues as his loyal wine club members decided to keep the club going in his memory. The club still meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday to this day where we conduct master classes and experience a variety of local wineries.
We are now based at the Rowland Flat Community Centre where we meet 6 times a year. We also venture away from our Home Base on six occasions a year and have enjoyed the hospitality of dozens of Barossa’s best over the years. This has included TeAro, Hemera Estates, Paracombe, Langmiel, Charlie Melton, Bethany, Jacob’s Creek, Torbreck, Liebich’s, Kies and many more. Apart from our Christmas event we are a men’s only club. Most events cost $50 for wine, a tasting exercise and a meal.Guests are very welcome
